Sick people

Thought I’d give you an update on what’s been happening around here this week.

I’ve been fighting off a cold for a while, but it got the better of me this week. I took Tuesday off work to go and see the doctor who diagnosed me with the trifecta: pharyngitis, sinusitis and bronchitis. He gave me some drugs and a few days off work to recover (which I definitely needed).

On Thursday afternoon, though, the day care centre called saying that Andrew had conjunctivitis and we needed to come and get him. Poor little bloke has had a runny nose and “leaky” eyes since then. It started out in his right eye but has now spread to the left as well. The chemist recommended some drops which didn’t seem to do anything (except make Andrew scream when we try to put them in), but after going to the doctor today we’ve been given two lots of antibiotics – one lot for his eyes (more drops – hooray!) and some liquid ones to squirt into his mouth, which he never really has any trouble with.

He still hates us putting in the drops, so we’d be open to any suggestions on making that a bit easier. He also hates us wiping his eyes to try and clear all the ‘gunk’. Speaking of gunk:

Oh, and my doctor suggested another ‘old-school’ cough remedy – good old Senega and Ammonia. Possibly the worst thing I’ve ever tasted. Seems to work well for the cough, though.

Anyway, better get back to it. Were supposed to be going out to dinner tonight, but can’t really leave Andrew as he is – poor little bloke!
