Big Announcement

Okay, by now this probably isn’t such a huge announcement, but I figure better late than never.

That’s right, Jules is pregnant again with our second child. The latest due date is the 21st of September, but of course that is always more of a guideline than anything else.

I must say that I’m a little calmer about the whole fatherhood thing (I’ve had a while to get used to it I guess) but the fact that Jules got pregnant a little earlier than expected has both of us a little nervous. Still, there will be about 2 years between Andrew and his little sister/brother (or is that brother/sister?) which is a pretty good gap.

That brings me onto one of the big questions – are we going to find out the sex of the baby? Well, the jury is still out on that one, but at this stage we’re leaning towards not finding out. People keep telling us it’s good to have a surprise, and given that we’re 90% prepared whatever we end up with we might just leave finding out until “B-day”.

Jules has been travelling fairly well so far. As last time she hasn’t really suffered from morning sickness which is a huge bonus.

The biggest change this time around is having to go through it all with a toddler in-tow. If either of us isn’t feeling 100%, the other one still has Andrew to contend with. Having suffered a bout of gastro a couple of weeks ago, Jules was faced with the fun job of entertaining Andrew by herself all weekend on top of all the ‘usual’ pregnancy-related stuff.

Not sure if Andrew quite understands what’s happening yet, but we have been trying to explain that Mummy has a baby in her tummy. He generally gives her tummy a pat and a kiss, but he tends to do that anyway.

What else? The next major event will be Jules’ scan next week. That’s the one where we are able to find out the sex of the baby if we want. I guess we have between now and then to decide which way we’ll go.

Better go. Sorry for the long break between posts. I’ll have to write some more soon to fill you in on what life’s been like with the little bloke. I might even be able to persuade Jules to post to the new blog (speaking of which, what do you think?)
