1-2-3-4… Hi-5!

We took Andrew out for his first big ‘concert’ last Sunday to the Queensland Big Barbecue at Roma St Parklands. His favourite group was performing, although they are starting to take second fiddle to a certain builder by the name of Bob.

That’s right – the one and only Hi-5 were the headline act. Well, when I say one and only, there were only 3 of the original 5 there but I’m not sure that the kids cared that much.

Unfortunately there were literally hundreds of toddlers crammed into the marquee where they were performing, so that meant we had to stand outside to try and catch a glimpse of Hi-5. Given that I wasn’t the tallest Dad, and that Andrew wasn’t too excited about sitting on my shoulders this meant that we had to be happy listening and dancing to the music.

Andrew definitely enjoyed the show (or should I say the songs) though. The look on his face when they started singing their theme song was classic. His jaw dropped and he started looking around to see where ‘high’ were. He didn’t seem to mind that he couldn’t see them, but got a bit sad when it was all over.

All in all it was definitely a fun outing. I think we might have to shell out and get some proper tickets the next time they’re in Brisbane!
